This is a sword and we believe in quality over quantity. swords are hand-made, fully functional, and "battle ready" katanas. They are best suited for practice in all sword arts, completion cutting, and collecting. The Japanese Katanas, hand-made by lyuesword, are of the highest quality. lyuesword has been produced Japanese swords for professional collectors and practitioners of Iaido, Iaijutsu, and Kenjutsu for over 10 years!

The blade has been hand finished with the use of Hazuya finger stone(a very thin Uchigumori stone on a paper backing) to bring out the hamon. It brings out the subtler patterns and intricacies of the folded steel. The process is labor-intensive and time consuming.but the results are extremely attractive and unmatched by any mechanized polishing methods.
On steel which has been differentially tempered, the pattern left by length of the blade, extending all the way to the tip.

The handle(tsuka)  is made of hard wood and wrapped with a silk ito over white ray skin.
The scabbard(saya) is also made of hard wood and both the mouth and butt are capped with black buffalo horn. The hard buffalo horn is functional detail typically reserved for higher quality scabbards. The ray skin wrapping under the silk cord(sageo). It is a nice detail which enhances both the look(by adding contrast) and the function(by providing extra grip) of the scabbard.

The sword fittings (tsuba, fuchi, kashira, menuki) are nicely detailed with an intricate pattern highlighted with gold and silver. The blade collar(habaki) and end cap(kashira) both have a similar pattern of gold and silver on a black background. The construction, fit, and finish were all excellen.
The sword is a fully functional Japanese katana and not a replica, it is considered a weapon and it is extremely sharp. This sword can easily sever a 7" thick bamboo with single stroke. The katana can be completely disassembled for full Maintenance.
